Beginning as a response to the prevalence of extreme domestic and community violence towards women and children in post-civil war Cambodia, 25 years on, HAGAR now runs recovery and empowerment programmes from Cambodia, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Singapore, contributing to the transformation of more than 19,000 lives from 17 countries.
In Singapore, our work has expanded from solely fundraising efforts to serving the women who have been trafficked into the city-state or who have been abused by their employers. Growing partnerships with local government bodies, corporations and organisations have also made our work more impactful as we are now able to channel more resources to where the need is.
