We have seen that recovery is possible but requires a relentless perseverance. Whilst this process often takes years, HAGAR is committed to walk the whole journey with survivors, offering a suite of services to ensure that recovery is holistic and sustainable.

Trauma Recovery and Resettlement Programme

Recognising the rising threats of human trafficking in Singapore and the critical need for holistic recovery care and empowerment for victims, in 2015, HAGAR started the Trauma Recovery and Resettlement Programme locally to help survivors start a whole new life.

Built upon a holistic, long-term recovery model that caters to the individualised needs of survivors, the Programme addresses the unique and complex needs of each survivor to receive:

• Recovery through trauma-informed care and counselling, mental health support, healthcare and medical treatment, recreational and creative therapy;
• Protection through ensuring access to safe accommodation, legal for court cases and emotional support in their journey through the criminal justice system;
• Education and Economic Empowerment through English and computer literacy, vocational and life skills training, employment support and job placements;
• Community Reintegration through the facilitation of safe transit, resettlement in their home countries, and continuous support in education and economic empowerment after reintegration.

Consistent with the belief that with the right support and capabilities, victims can recover and lead in their own journey to wholeness, we have witnessed firsthand through the lives of many recovered survivors, that transformation is altogether possible.

We are hopeful that by targeting recovery responses at these vulnerable groups and increasing their capabilities and capacities, it will guide them on the path of development to becoming contributing and productive members of society.
